Escape! Travel to New Hampshire

>

No issue how a lot you declare to appreciate dwelling in the town, I’m sure you’re usually tempted to hit the road and disappear into the wilderness. I know I am. I sometimes concern my inability to drop asleep while not a subway educate rumbling by.

I just lately adopted an individual of my escapist temptations and steered my VW Bug towards New Hampshire’s Lakes Region. I attempted to travel gentle, but after a bit of investigation, I located my motor vehicle rather stocked:

one. Fishing Rods (there was a bass out there with my identify on it).
two. one Tent (I definitely booked a Space, but felt as if the journey deserved a tent)
three. Costco-sized bag of Path Mix (aprox. ten lbs.)
four. Added Fluffy Down Pillows
5. A notebook with EVDO broadband card (we all gotta keep linked in some way)
six. A hammock I picked up on the way out
seven. My flatmate Alan (aprox. 245 lbs)
eight. A suitcase stuffed with apparel and a wool jacket.
9. Hiking boots
8. Alan’s stuff (typically consisted of two thirty racks of beer)

We stuffed the silence of the five hour generate with Bruce Springsteen’s best hits. You know you’ve crossed more than to the Granite State’s highways when they grow to be lined with a surplus of gun stores and discount liquor shops. Much more blatant were the thousand or so bikers that cut past us on Route 93.

They growled by on packs of silver and black Harleys I imagined them off to some grass-and-dirt battlefield to clash with a rival gang. Turns out it was , an yearly June rally for the exhibiting of bikes and girls and the consuming of copious amounts of beer. Alan wanted to go, but I resolved in opposition to it.

Just as the sun dipped down below the horizon we arrived at breathtaking , arranged among 500 acres of unspoiled fields and hardwood forests, and perched proudly on top of New Hampshire’s lakes Area. We ended up hungry from traveling, and were supplied a brilliant meal in Steele Hill’s restaurant which featured wonderful views of Lake Winnipesaukee and Lake Winnisquaum.

I lay awake that night time, surprised at how quiet the earth was exterior of the city. A symphony of crickets had replaced the subway trains and drunk revelers. I fell asleep clearly-traveled and all set to catch my bass in the early morning.
